Happy New Year!
As this new year begins to unfold
my wish is that you find inner peace and that your inner desires come true.
Words of wisdom about setting New Years Goals: Make sure to set goals for what you want this year, goals for yourself, outside of what you enjoy doing for others. Something for your own happiness and joy.
Set the goals and do it. We only have the time we have, so do things now! Life is short no matter how long you have, it’s still over too quickly.
As I’m looking back on gifts of wisdom from people in my life I thought about one of the gifts to remember to enjoy life by living life to the fullest. And a big one is not to put off the things I really want to do – till sometime in the future.
The formula for setting goals so you will succeed.
1. Start by focusing inward to the deepest part of you.
2. Ask what you want to add to your life that will enhance your joy and passion.
3. Write down the goals – this is the draft version of what you want – so let your mind flow to anything that comes up, no matter how big.
4. Break down your goals into the smallest pieces that will take you in the direction.
5. Then break it down even smaller – so you can’t help but move on it.
6. Ask yourself what will having the goal do for you?
7. Imagine how it will feel in 6 months (or a year) after you’ve taken each tiny step.
8. Use these ideas:
a. How will it feel after achieving the goal?
b. What will you be doing differently?
c. Who will be in this future vision?
9. Re-evaluate – if you are ever find that you are not moving ahead with the steps (goals) you’ve set, make the steps even smaller.
Example:
My New Year Goals:
1. I’ve made a decision that for the new year I’m going to do things that will enhance my health. No matter how busy I might be, my goal is to start my day with a simple stretching routine. I’ve written it down, and broken it down to a tiny segment of 10 minutes a day. I can already imagine how keeping this goal will be at the start of next year, with my body limber and healthy.
2. To enrich my mind, in addition to researching and designing new and better ways of treating panic, stress, fear for my clients, I’m also determined to learn a new language. I’m setting aside 15 minutes a day, I’m dedicating myself to tackle something that hasn’t up to this point been successful for me.
3. As you can see I’m starting with small amounts of time. In this way I won’t talk myself out of it. I’m setting my goals so small, I can’t help but succeed.
So in the new year I send you my love and wish you health, serenity and joy and all the best in your life. Please, write down a few goals for yourself. Now, while you are thinking of it. Take some action step.
In light of the new year – take a moment and think about what you would like to accomplish in this new year:
- Write it down – Be specific about what you want
- Answer the question: How will reaching your goal be for you?
- Include what will be different in your life once you have accomplished your goal.
