Obsession and fear about health:

The fear that I’m discussing today has to do with obsessive thoughts about health issues. For years In this case Tony put it off knee replacement surgery but as nothing else was helping he finally he decided I decided it would give him more quality of life, so still fearful he went through with it. And the surgery went well and his recovery was moving along normally.
Yet, even with all the reassurance from the doctor that all is well, he feel stuck with the anxiety producing thoughts that something bad will happen. Everything is healing he has been obsessing that something will go wrong.
He wrote that he made the mistake of looking up folks on internet forums who had complications, and now he is living in sheer terror. His intrusive thoughts are invading his peace of mind all day and night. Even though logically he knows the chances of a complication happening are minuscule he has added to his misery by beating himself up for not researching for more information before he had the surgery.
It’s occupying every waking moment and at times feel paralyzed with fear. Even though the doctor reassures him that everything looks good.
