Inner mind game: getting rid of unwanted thoughts

Playing a sport can be a wonderful way to take a break from the pressures of life and work. It can also be a source of frustration something gets in the way of playing at your best.

In this article we’ll be discussing what you can do when unproductive thoughts (both conscious and unconscious) that disrupt your game. One of the major problems that cause a disruption in focusing are our own thoughts. Especially the ones that move through the mind so quickly that you might not realize you had a disruptive thought. What you are aware of, is not playing at your best.

When negative thoughts “play in the background of your mind” they can cause you to distrust your own talents and abilities. They have an effect on your mood and no matter how intelligent, creative or successful you may be, negative thoughts cause self-doubt. They take the joy out of the things.

Stop Negative Thoughts

Luckily there is something that you can do to fix this problem. The first secret to changing unproductive thoughts is to realize that they are running. Once you realize they are running you can use the same creativity, that we use to create negative “possibilities” to create positive enhancing ones. I have found that hypnotic techniques provide one of the easiest ways to to quickly get back in the game. Once you have learned the techniques, it will take just seconds to get the shift. And the best part is that with practice it can happen automatically. As a hypno-therapist part of what I do is to show people how to use the power of the mind in new and inspiring ways.

Start with the following 5 steps and notice the changes:

The secret to changing unwanted thoughts…

Step 1: Keep an open mind.

Step 2: Pay attention when you feel a change in focus, or when you feel angry, annoyed, frustrated or not up to par

Step 3: STOP and take a breath. This changes your “state of mind” At the end of the article there is a link for the breath used at the Anxiety Control Center, to get into the optimum state of mind for accessing the unconscious.

Step 4: Ask yourself: “What thoughts just went through my mind?” Just be curious, and you will surprise yourself as your unconscious gives you the answer. Note: As you “go inside” and listen, you are actually entering in a very light state of trance. A light trance state opens your mind to things your might not have been aware of. At first it may take awhile to become aware of negative thoughts, but with time and practice, they will begin to emerge.

Step 5: Once you recognize your thoughts, you can begin to change them to what you’d rather think. If there is any difficulty with changing them to positive, enhancing ones it may be that there is an old “program” running that needs to be changed. This can be done using other hypnotic techniques. that will help you to get to the root of where negative thoughts come from. Once old programs (that aren’t working) are changed, it’s like you mind is on automatic pilot taking you towards where you want to go.
