This morning we were talking about misconceptions and fears many new clients have about hypnosis.  Most new hypnotists are so excited about helping their clients with this new skill that sometimes they forget how vital it is to dispel any misconceptions before beginning to do any hypnotic work.

Remember that often when people think of hypnosis, they think about the way it is portrayed in the movies, where the client appears to be asleep and the hypnotist gives suggestions.  Or maybe they have seen a stage hypnotist seemingly controlling their subjects and making them do something embarrassing.  I usually tell a story about a woman I met at a luncheon I was attending. As usually happens we were discussing what we do.  When she heard that I was a hypnotherapist she told me that . . .
