Is there a wrong way to practice hypnosis?

Question: When first learning to use hypnotic techniques how do I know if I’m doing it right?

Many people at first worry about doing new things “right.”  That is true for using new techniques in hypnotherapy.   I usually tell my clients there is no wrong way to use any technique.   Very creative people at times might use a technique differently that it was designed.  The result can be a wonderful surprise.   I have found that the unconscious part of the mind knows best what is the “correct” way for you.  Sometimes when you do something differently, you might just have come up with a new technique. that would be helpful to others as well.   When you are learning you want to keep an open mind to learning new ways of doing things.

I believe the only 2 things you need to do hypnosis “right” is the desire and curiosity. By staying curious you open your mind to seeing things from a new perspective. So, simply stay open to experience and discovery.  Using hypnosis can help you to re-program old habits, to create what you desire.

After a hypnotic session at times you won’t even realize how much you’ve changed until you “look back” at the end of the day and notice you reacted differently in what used to be a stressful situation.
